Miriam > Day 2 in country. Bright eyed, bushy tailed. Ready for adventure
Miriam > Around June, July '03. Me and Ayrin in Kaedi at the training center. Already the Mauritanian 'diet' has shrunk me down a bit.
Miriam > October '03. 1st trip to Nouakchott after being posted to the village. Happy to be out of the village and connecting with fellow PCVs again.
Miriam > November '03. Me and Fatima in family compound. Starting to feel a part of family and get around language barriers. Fatima considers herself my little sister.
Miriam > August '04. Self-portrait. In a reflextive mood. Been in Mauritania for over a year now. Feeling more comfortable here and ready to finish my 2nd year. (pre-dred hair cut)
Miriam > September '04. Thanks to Bintu and her surgical scissors the dreds come off! What was I thinking. I miss my hair!!!
Miriam > November '04. Self portrait. Post hair cut...please, God, let it grow back. Have less than a year of service left and was looking to shake things up. Feeling confident, sassy and a little cocky. Look out Mauritania here I come. (Village family is SHOCKED by the hair. Don't like it at all.)
Miriam > Feb. 2005. Photo for Malian visa (though never got to go). Elated that I'm going on a trip out of the country. Feeling comfortable in my surroundings...Hair finally grew out enough for extension braids
Miriam > Feb. '05. Self portrait. (Look like my mom!) Post WAIST tourney so coming down from the excitement of Dakar and being with fellow PCVs. Thinking of winding up my time here and what the future holds. (Hopefully more hair)
